Picardy and Champagne

Picardy is a relatively unknown destination despite its proximity to Paris and ease of access from the UK. However, like most areas of this diverse county, it has much to recommend it with unspoilt villages and ancient forests. Champagne needs no introduction, and its capital Reims is one of the nicest cities in France. There are also old forests and palaces, such as Chantilly (below).

This is a rual area - the Picards are proud of their farming heritage - yet also saw much action during the first world war. In early French history is was important too, so there is a lot to see and explore on a cycling holiday in Picardy and Champagne.
